Welcome to the Quantitative Plant Development Lab
Our lab aims to uncover the molecular, cellular, and tissue-level mechanisms underlying organogenesis in plants. We combine expertise in growth tracking, 3D-image analysis, genetics, and biomechanics to investigate how growth, patterning, and tissue differentiation interact in mechanically connected tissues to generate the remarkable diversity of shapes in organs. Ultimately, we hope that our research will help pave the way toward a unified understanding of organogenesis in multicellular organisms.
The Kierzkowski lab is a part of the Plant Biology Research Institute, the product of a unique partnership between the University of Montreal and the City of Montreal. We are located in the Montreal Botanical Garden, one of the largest botanical gardens in the world.
